They
were able to see some of the Boulton and Watt Steam Engines and Babbage's
Difference Engine (Models 1 and 2). Professors Berry and Parsons
awarded triva winners with
candy afterwards. The group photo (with EIL banner) is taken under Old Bess, one of the oldest surviving steam engines that was built in 1777 by Boulton and Watt. This machine was removed from tits original site in Boulton’s Soho Manufactory (Birmingham) after it stopped work in 1848.
